What is DUOLOGY?
DUOLOGY was founded in 2020 by Shoko and her mother, Yasuko, drawing on their international academic experience.
The name reflects the idea of meaningful connections across disciplines. It combines DUO (Latin for “two”) and LOGY (from ancient Greek, meaning “system of knowledge”), representing the founders’ academic foundations in Japan, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Shoko is pursuing a PhD in Religious Studies in the United Kingdom, while Yasuko is a Professor of International Relations and Political Studies. Together, they established DUOLOGY as an intellectually driven agency that values both exceptional products and meaningful human connections, while addressing wider global concerns, including animal welfare, the environment, and human rights.
In essence, DUOLOGY applies specialist knowledge to each product, while continuing to explore possibilities beyond conventional boundaries.
DUOLOGYは、国際的なバックグラウンドを有するShokoとYasukoにより、2020年に設立されました。
DUOLOGYは「関連する一組の作品」を意味し、分野を越えて知が結びつくという思想を表しております。同時に、DUO（ラテン語で「二」）とLOGY（古代ギリシャ語で「知の体系」）を組み合わせたものであり、日本・英国・オーストラリアにおける両名の学術的背景を象徴しています。
Shokoは英国にて宗教学の博士課程に在籍し、Yasukoは国際関係学・政治学の教授として活動してきました。これまで両名は、日英の架け橋となるべく講演や各種イベントの企画に携わってきました。そうした経験を基盤に、英国大使館のご支援も頂きながら、SDGsやオーガニック、ヴィーガンといった価値を重視する英国ブランドの取り扱いを開始いたしました。
DUOLOGYは、アカデミックハブのような視座を持ちながら事業を展開し、優れた製品を紹介するにとどまらず、人と人とのつながりを大切にする活動を通じて、アート・教育・環境・人権等といったグローバルな課題にも向き合ってまいります。
それぞれの分野において高い専門性を大切にしながらも、領域にとらわれない新たな可能性を追求し続けています。
